TAGUM CITY – One person died while 22 others were injured after a passenger bus rammed the rear of a trailer truck along a national road in Monkayo town, Davao de Oro province early Sunday, local disaster officials said.

Rocris Glenn Idul, Monkayo town disaster risk reduction and management officer, said the mishap which happened at 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 24.

It involved a Bachelor Express Inc. (BEI) passenger bus coming from Davao city and on its way to Agusan del Sur.

Idul said the passenger bus slammed into the rear part of a cargo truck parked along the road at Purok 9, Barangay Baylo of Monkayo town.

He identified the bus conductor as Rhiann Mamusog of Tagum city who died in the accident, while 22 bus passengers were hurt.

Rescuers from the municipal health office, Philippine Red Cross, MDRRMO and Agusan del Sur brought the injured victims to the nearest hospital, Idul said.
