10-year-old girl dies, 12 hurt as 2 tricycles collide in Quezon

A tricycle driver died after her vehicle was hit by a tractor head in Sariaya town in Quezon province on Wednesday night, Dec. 27, police said.

LUCENA CITY – A 10-year-old girl died and 12 others were injured after a tricycle and motorcycle both driven by youngsters collided in Mulanay town in Quezon province on Saturday, March 23.

On Sunday, March 24, the Police Region 4A, citing a report from Mulanay police, said a “top-down” motorcycle, or a roofless tricycle in local parlance, being driven by Jerwin Paz, 14, was hit and bumped by an oncoming motorcycle driven by Mark dela Cruz, 15, in Barangay (village) Pakiing around 1:30 p.m.

Report said 13 passengers, including the two drivers, sustained injuries and were taken to a local clinic and a hospital in neighboring Catanauan town.

However, one of the tricycle passengers, Clarvin Joy Paz, died on the way to the hospital.

The report did not provide information on the personal relationship between driver Jerwin and the fatality.

Both drivers had no license to drive, being youngsters.

The police are conducting further investigation.
