Meat vendor shot dead in Masbate City market

LEGAZPI CITY— A meat vendor was shot and killed while another person was injured in an incident inside Masbate City public market on Saturday, March 23.

The victim, identified as Edward Canino, 30, a resident of Barangay (village) Espinosa in Masbate City was standing inside the meatshop he works at when the gunman appeared at around 2:45 p.m. and repeatedly shot him, Brigadier General Andre Perez Dizon, Bicol police director, said in a report.

Canino died instantly while another victim, who was not identified in the report, was wounded and taken to the Masbate Provincial Hospital where he received treatment.

The assailant fled the scene after the shooting incident.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive and the suspects behind the incident.
