PAGADIAN CITY — Police officials of Misamis Occidental province have vowed to work harder to arrest the remaining suspects in the killing of a broadcaster in Calamba town in November last year.

This came as two suspects in the killing of broadcaster Juan Jumalon–known to his listeners as “DJ Johnny Walker”–fell into the hands of authorities in separate operations in Sapang Dalaga town last March 16.

Col. Dwight Monato, provincial director of the Misamis Occidental police, said the two suspects, both 39 and whose names were still being withheld, acted as back-up and driver of the getaway single motorcycle used by the killers during of the broadcaster’s murder.

Monato said the arrested suspects were now under the custodial facility of Sapang Dalaga town police station.

He commended the operating teams and other law enforcement units involved in the manhunt operations which led to the arrest of the two accused.

“We will ensure that the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with the remaining accused in the murder of DJ Jhonny Walker and bring all of them to justice,” Monato said.

Jumalon was reading greetings on-air on November 5 last year when shot right inside the radio station that he ran inside his home in Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri, Calamba town of Misamis Occidental province .

The killing was seen in real-time by those listening to his popular Sunday program, “Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon” (Gentle Morning Touch), which was being streamed live on Facebook from the radio station.

The suspects, who were arrested in two separate operations in Barangay Poblacion, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, were facing a case of murder docketed under Criminal Case number 2285 at Branch 36 of the Regional Trial Court in Calamba town.

Executive Judge Micahel Lotao Ajoc issued the suspects’ warrants of arrest on March 15 this year. No bail bond was recommended.
