DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) welcomed a new chief on Friday.

Police Col. Alberto Lupaz stepped down from his post after more than two years as city director and was succeeded by Police Col. Richard Bad-ang during turnover rites at Camp Leonor.

The ceremony was presided over by Police Brig. Gen. Wilson Soliba, deputy director for administration of the Police Regional Office-11. Mayor Sebastian Duterte was the guest of honor.

Bad-ang is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Kabalikat Class of 1998.

He is trained in countering various criminal activities and fraud, such as terrorism, criminal profiling, document exploitation, impostor identification, weapon trafficking, and money laundering, through a course conducted by the US Department of Homeland Security.

He also took the Tactical Intelligence Course at the Australian Federal Police.

Bad-ang holds a master’s degree in public administration from the Ateneo de Davao University.

Since 2021, Bad-ang serves as the Division Chief of the Area Police Command – Eastern Mindanao before assuming the post as the new DCPO director.

He is married to Dr. Maria Theresa Lorenzo Bad-ang, a renal transplant specialist at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and past President of the Philippine Society of Nephrology Mindanao Chapter.
