MANILA, Philippines — The Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Thursday announced that 23 local officials were inducted as members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) political party.
“As you officially become part of our political family, I am confident that your energy, passion, and ideas will invigorate our collective efforts towards realizing a brighter future for all Filipinos,” said Romualdez, who is the party president.
According to Romualdez’s office, some of those who joined Lakas-CMD were former Nueva Ecija 2nd District Rep. Micaela Violago, who was from the National Unity Party; San Carlos, Pangasinan Mayor Julier Resuello and Vice-Mayor Joseres Resuello; and Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental Mayor Nadya Emano-Elipe, and Vice-Mayor Robinson Sabio.
Several mayors from Laguna also joined the party – Romeo Amorado of Majayjay, Vener Muñoz of Rizal, Elmor Vita of Nagcarlan, as well as Ross Rizal and Vice-Mayor Totie Lazaro of Calamba.
