Fire breaks out at Xavier School in San Juan city

MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at Xavier School in San Juan city on Wednesday, said the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

According to the BFP, the blaze was raised to first alarm at 11:48 a.m.

It was quickly declared “under control” at 12:24 p.m. before being extinguished at 12:34 p.m.

The school management, in a statement, said the fire erupted in the grade school library right after the graduation ceremony for elementary students at 11:45 a.m.

Despite the location, no injuries were reported to have been caused by the incident.

The Xavier School management said, “Students, guests, and school employees were immediately evacuated to the football field and sports center.”

“There is damage to property, but thankfully, no one was hurt,” it added.

Meanwhile, the school announced that its activities for Grade 12 students will still continue in the unaffected parts of the campus.

The BFP said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
