Ang See rues delayed promulgation of kidnapping case

MANILA, Philippines – Civic leader Teresita Ang-See expressed disappointment that after over a decade of waiting, they still have to wait further after the promulgation of a 2013 kidnapping for ransom case which was rescheduled anew to a still uncertain date.

“Eleven years of trial, of course, we are hopeful that justice would be served. We know we have a very strong case because the victim is alive and rescued,” she told reporters.

The case was about the abduction of Sally Chua.

Chua was kidnapped on July 5, 2013, in Quezon City. Chua was taken on a six-day ride through Albay, Leyte, Butuan City, and Davao City, where she was rescued.

Charged for Chua’s kidnapping were Ramil Macamay, Riccente Padillo, and Rodante Cabaylo.

Promulgation of the case was originally set in 2023 but rescheduled to March 2024

Asked when the resetting of the promulgation is, See replied: “No date yet. They [the parties] were supposed to meet today.’

See added that the lawyers of the accused were not present.
