MANILA, Philippines—The test webcast of the Maguindanao massacre trial is generally successful, Supreme Court spokesman Jose Midas Marquez said Wednesday.

“Generally, the test webcast is successful. We just have to iron out the video problem and the delay of three to five seconds,” Marquez said.

He said the video of the test webcast, which had about 200 visitors, became blurry with the number of viewers increasing.

“We have to do something about that,” says Marquez who was in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan to personally check the live streaming trial.

The high court’s Public Information Office (PIO) used one webcam during the test webcast although Marquez said they were “thinking of using a camera but we might need a higher memory and it could slow down the webcast.”

The test webcast was done via UStream but Marquez said they would also try another server.

The webcast of the massacre trial is upon the orders of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

The Supreme Court recently allowed the live telecast of the Maguindanao massacre trial upon the request of the victims’ relatives and members of the media although the coverage would be subject to the guidelines set by the high court.
