LRT-1’s ‘investagation’ error baffles commuters

MANILA, Philippines—In a twist that left netizens scratching their heads and stifling giggles, the Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) has been caught up in a typographical debacle at its UN Avenue station.

A rogue sign at the southbound platform boldly proclaimed the presence of the “National Bureau of Investagation,” rather than the intended “investigation,” drawing swift attention from eagle-eyed commuters and social media sleuths alike.

The gaffe, immortalized by Annie Rose Laborte in a Facebook post, quickly snowballed into an online spectacle, with users both amused and bewildered by the blunder.

“Who approved that? We need to know! Someone needs to ‘investagate’!” one Facebook user demanded, echoing the sentiments of many.

Another commenter raised a valid point, questioning how such an error could slip through multiple stages of approval, from planning to printing and installation: “Not one of them noticed that?”

In a statement to INQUIRER.net, LRT-1 spokesperson Jackie Gorospe confirmed that the team is already working on replacing the erroneous signage.

“Our team is already working on the updated signage,” Gorospe said.

Gorospe assured that the replacement would be completed “within the day” and that the misspelled part has been temporarily covered.
