Earthquakes strike Quezon island town
LUCENA CITY — Two successive earthquakes of tectonic origin struck the island town of Patnanungan in Quezon province early Friday, March 15.
The Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first tremor with a magnitude of 3.9 was detected 91 kilometers northeast of Patnanungan at 1:59 a.m. with a 7-km depth of focus.
Earlier, a slightly stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 also shook the town at 1:45 a.m.

The tremor was recorded 80 km northeast of the municipality with a depth of one kilometer.
