Anti-drug cops seize P3.4M worth of shabu in Las Piñas

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a suspected drug peddler in a buy-bust operation in Las Piñas City, seizing crystal methamphetamine or “shabu” worth P3.4 million.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), in its police report on Thursday, identified the suspect as a certain Alden Vicentuan, 45 years old, and a resident of Barangay Almanza Uno, Las Piñas City.

He was arrested at around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, after Las Piñas operatives conducted a buy-bust operation within his area of residence.

Around 505 grams of suspected shabu were seized from the suspect, said the NCRPO, and is estimated to be worth P3,434,000.

He was then brought to the Las Piñas City Police Station pending a complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”

NCRPO regional director PMGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., for his part, assured that the police force in Metro Manila will remain committed to apprehending peddlers of illegal drugs.

“I assure the public that Team NCRPO remains steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the community against all forms of illegal drug use and abuse,” said Nartatez in a statement.
