Defense gets ready to answer queries on Corona $10-M deposit

MANILA, Philippines — The Defense team of embattled Chief Justice Corona on Friday said they were ready to answer questions about the $10 million account of their client when his impeachment trial resumes on Monday.

“We are also faced with public opinion… We realized that we have to answer both legal and propaganda issues in court,” lawyer Tranquil Salvador said in a press briefing.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales who is investigating the complaint filed against Corona by former Representative Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel and Representative Walden Bello is expected to testify in the trial next week.

Salvador added that they were preparing for the appearance of the chief justice before the impeachment court.
