MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Appointments (CA) approved on Tuesday ad interim appointments of nine flag and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

During the CA plenary session, the promotion of three brigadier generals, three colonels of the Philippine Army; one commodore, one captain of the Philippine Navy; and one colonel of Medical Crops was certified.

The names of promoted military officials are as follows:

The designation of Army official Ranulfo Sevilla as brigadier general was deferred by the congressional body over allegations of abuse.

Also on Tuesday, Tessa Sevilla showed up at the Senate to block the promotion of her husband. In a press conference, she recalled the allegedly harrowing events she went through at the hands of the ranking military officer.

She said her husband does not deserve to be promoted.

The CA Committee on National Defense first deliberated on the proposed promotions of the AFP officials before the congressional body finally authorized them on March 12.
