MANILA, Philippines—Senator Imee Marcos is hoping that her mother, former First Lady Imelda R. Marcos, will be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.

“Okay lang, okay ang mommy ko. Sana makalabas bukas pero may pneumonia pa rin — wala nang lagnat. Maraming salamat sa mga nagdadasal at nangungumusta,” Sen. Marcos said monday afternoon.

(She’s okay, my mom is okay. I hope she gets discharged tomorrow, but she still has pneumonia — although she no longer has fever. Thank you to everyone who prayed for her and to all those who are checking on her.)

It was also the senator who first confirmed that the 94-year-old former first lady had been hospitalized.

“Given her age, we have to take max[imum] precautions,” she told reporters then.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, on the other hand, earlier disclosed that his mother “has no difficulty in breathing and is resting well.”
