Dead ma’s lover stabs farmer

A 54-YEAR-OLD farmer was allegedly stabbed dead by his mother’s former live-in partner while they were having a drinking spree in barangay Cadaruhan, Borbon town, northern Cebu, last Wednesday evening.

Aquino Goho, who had wounds on his thigh and stomach, was brought to the Juan Dosado Hospital in Sogod town, northern Cebu, where he was declared dead by doctors.

The suspect, Regino Arellano, 56, owned up to the crime and was arrested by police.

Police investigation revealed that Goho and Arellano, who was the live-in partner of the victim’s mother when she was still alive, argued while having a drinking session with two other friends in a sari-sari store around 6 p.m..

In the middle of the argument, police said Arellano drew a knife and stabbed Goho.

Arellano said he got fed up when the victim asked him again to provide his house with a new roof.

Police said the victim wanted the suspect to fix his roof as his share of the money that his mother left to her live-in partner.

But Arellano, who is now detained at the Borbon police precinct while awaiting the filing of charges against him, told police that Goho’s mother did not leave any property or money to him before she died.

Police said the victim brought up the issue every time he got drunk./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
