All set for Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN

The province-wide massive tree planting project and fun run of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) dubbed Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN (Generation Redemption and Expansion of Natural resources Initiatives) Philippines will be held June 30 at an eight-hectare forested area in Jaclupan, Talisay City.

The second edition of the running event will feature a 3-kilometer fun run, which will be highlighted by a tree planting of 220,000 seedlings in over 50 towns of the Cebu Province.

The event will be held simultaneously in Davao Del Sur and South Cotabato. It aims to continue the five-year agenda of the government’s effort to plant trees all over the country.

“We want to bring back the natural bio diversity in Cebu by planting trees,” said RAFI executive director for integrated development Rowena Alensonorin during yesterday’s official launching at the Cebu Provincial Capitol conference room.

“It’s a great pleasure to be part of this,” said Governor Gwen Garcia, who was also present during the launching.

The project is also held in line with executive order 26 of President Benigno Aquino III and the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) billion tree-planting program.

Registration is free for everyone. Those who want to join can visit the RAFI office at 35 Lopez Jaena Street Cebu City or the Talisay City Hall, University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), University of San Carlos (USC) and Ayala Center Active Zone.
