According to the DSWD, each beneficiary received P9,960 during the payout on Monday, which totalled more than P19 million.

“The cash aid will empower the families affected by the effects of extreme weather conditions to decide on how to use the amount for their self-assessed priority needs,”  Lopez added.

The DSWD likewise said that the payout on Monday is the first tranche of several other payouts to be distributed to Davao Oriental.

It added that 75,695 affected families from Baganga, Banaybanay, Boston, Caraga, Cateel, Governor Generoso, Lupon, Manay, Mati, and San Isidro are expected to receive their payouts between March and June.

In January, the region was affected by floods brought by rains from a low pressure area and the northeast monsoon.
