MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) expressed hope that the Misamis Occidental Regional Trial Court (RTC) will issue an arrest warrant against three suspects in the killing of Juan Jumalon, also known as “DJ Johnny Walker.”

According to PTFoMS executive director Paul Gutierrez, Provincial Prosecutor Dickie Gongob has already approved the filing of murder and theft cases against the suspects at the Misamis Occidental RTC.

This developed after they have found strong evidence against the suspects.

A few days after Jumalon was assassinated inside his radio booth on November 5, 2023,  the Philippine National Police created a Special Investigation Task Group that eventually identified the suspects and filed a complaint before the prosecutor’s office, recalled Gutierrez.

However, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla ordered all fiscals last March to coordinate closely with investigators of criminal cases to make sure the case that will be filed against the suspects is strong.

“There is a reason for the delay in the filing of the cases, but as this has been hurdled already, we are confident that justice would be soon served to Jumalon and his family,” Gutierrez said in a statement on Tuesday.

Gutierrez also said that Apo Production Unit had printed 70,000 pieces of wanted flyers to help in locating Jumalon’s killers.

He added that the Philippine Ports Authority would also help disseminate the flyers.

The suspects, with aliases “Ricky,” Inteng,” and “Boboy,” will all be charged with murder, Gutierrez further said.

Additionally, Ricky will likewise be charged with theft, he added.

Jumalon was the owner and anchor of Gold 94.7 FM in Misamis Occidental.

He was live streaming his program around 5 a.m. on November 5 last year, when alias “Ricky” shot him at close range using a caliber .45 pistol.
