Wayward truck hits bus, 1 dead

MANILA, Philippines—One person was killed and scores were hurt when a wayward dump truck hit a bus along a busy street in Matina, Davao City, Highway Patrol Group (HPG) director Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said Wednesday.

Espina identified the victim as Imie Belardo.

He said the accident happened at around 3.30 p.m. Tuesday on the corner of Mc Arthur highway and Santos Cuyugan avenue in Matina. The six-wheeler dump truck driven by a Hendry Villarobiabengil allegedly lost its brakes and hit a Bachelor bus loaded with passengers and a  taxi, Espina said.

Those injured in the ac cident were taken to hospital, Espina added.
