MANILA, Philippines — In line with the country’s celebration of Women’s Month, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched a project to increase and ensure the presence of female law enforcers in women’s and children’s desks nationwide.

In a press briefing on Monday, PNP Spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo explained that “Project Aleng Pulis Everywhere” aims to help victims comfortably open up about their sensitive experiences.

“That’s why we are ensuring that the women’s desk is being manned by female officers so that any concern related to women and children will be addressed properly. We assure the public that Aleng Pulis will always be there anytime to cater to their needs,” Fajardo said.

Fajardo added  that more women officers are taking the lead within the organization by leading units and stations with all female personnel.

She said that they also have an all-female Civil Disturbance Management contingent and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, which shows that women officers are also capable of doing what male officers carry out.

Based on its 2022 data, the PNP reported that there were about 37,157 policewomen or 17.94 percent of the entire PNP population.
