Woman loses SUV to thieves

MANILA, Philippines–A woman in Marikina City fell prey to car thieves who divested her of cash and took off with her sports utility vehicle (SUV) at dawn Wednesday, police said.

Supt. Emmanuel Tabuena, deputy police chief of Marikina, said the victim identified as Sherylyn Rapisura, 34, was about to park her gray Hyundai Tucson 2010 model (NQU 971) at her residence in Barangay Concepcion, Marikina City, around 4 a.m. when four armed men suddenly appeared.

At gunpoint, the four commandeered the vehicle and took her along C5 road in Taguig City where she was ordered to withdraw P46,000 from an automated teller machine.

“The carjackers released her and even gave her P1,000 for her fare,” Tabuena said.

A flash alarm to track down the vehicle has been raised in all Metro Manila police stations, Tabuena said.
