BI nabs overstaying Indian national

MANILA, Philippines — An Indian national has been arrested for overstaying in the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Saturday.

According to the BI, Shah Gaurav Mukesh, 44 years old, was nabbed in Bacoor, Cavite, on Thursday, Feb. 29. He has not extended his Philippine visa since 2019.

Mukesh was sent to the BI’s facility in Taguig City while charges against him were being prepared for violating immigration laws.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said foreign nationals must follow Philippine laws or face penalties.

“Those who make a mockery of our laws are not welcome in the country,” he stressed.
