MANILA, Philippines — The statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) of members of the House of Representatives will not be released just yet, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. told a press briefing Thursday.
Belmonte said the House would release the lawmakers SALNs once the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona ends.
“Let’s be focused and finish it [the impeachment] and go to another topic later,” Belmonte said, saying that the release of the congressmen’s SALNs could become a distraction.
He told reporters that the SALNs of the congressmen would be released after the impeachment trial, which the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, wants to finish May 31.
