DTI eyeing partnership with DP World to boost logistics sector

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Tuesday said that it plans to collaborate with United Arab Emirates-based company DP World for the development of industrial parks.

According to the DTI, Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual met with DP World representatives last Feb. 25.

“We see significant economic potential in collaborating with DP World to develop the Philippines’ logistics sector, including industrial parks, economic zones, and digital solutions,” Pascual said.

“We are committed to fostering an environment that encourages such partnerships by creating policies that promote sustainable development, foreign investment, and innovation in the logistics sector,” he added.

The DTI said that a potential partnership can benefit the country’s infrastructure, and other developments, such as logistic hubs and industrial parks.

“The Philippine government, through the DTI, remains firmly committed to supporting businesses and investments. We are dedicated to fostering an environment that enables companies to thrive and contribute to the nation’s continued growth and prosperity,” Pascual added.

Pascual is also the leader of the Philippine delegation in the World Trade Organization’s 13th Ministerial Conference in the United Arab Emirates from Feb. 26 to 29.
