The Navotas Regional Trial Court Branch 286 has found guilty of homicide one of the six policemen involved in the killing of 17-year-old Jerhode “Jemboy” Baltazar.


Guilty of homicide is Police Staff Sergeant Gerry Sabate Maliban (IS), while Police Executive Master Sergeant Roberto Dioso Balais Jr., Police Staff Sergeant Nikko Pines Corollo Esquillon (SWAT) and Patrolman Benedict Danao Mangada (SS4) have been found guilty of illegal discharge of firearms.


China hinders PH Navy’s ‘electronic capabilities’ in West PH Sea – exec

China has been interfering with the “electronic capabilities” of the Philippine Navy in the West Philippine Sea for the past few years, an official said Tuesday.

“The activities of China in the West Philippines Sea have been going on for quite some time when it comes to interference on our electronic capabilities,” revealed Commodore Roy Vincent Trinidad, Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea.

The cyberattack on the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) official Facebook page on Monday may have been caused by malware or software designed to damage, break into or gain illegal access to a computer system.

“After initial consultation with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group, the CGPAS (Coast Guard Public Affairs Service) considers the possibility of online security breach through malware (malicious software),” PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said in a statement Tuesday.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri on Monday said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed his desire for the Charter change plebiscite to be held alongside the 2025 midterm elections.

“Binanggit niya po kanina yan, mas gusto niya, na magkaroon ng plebiscite in the 2025 elections. Dahil, napaka-klaro, kung gagawin natin ‘yan bago mag-eleksyon [ay] gagastos po tayo ng P12 to P14 billion,” Zubiri told reporters in an ambush interview.
