LUCENA CITY — A 51-year-old man, who falsely claimed to be a policeman, was arrested early Sunday after allegedly demanding money from a businessman in Silang town in Cavite province.
In a report, Police Region 4A identified the suspect as “Jonaldo,” who supposedly introduced himself as a police officer to a certain Romeo Macapinlac, an owner of a fleet of heavy equipment.
Jonaldo allegedly asked for an unspecified amount as his monthly allowance in exchange for guarding the businessman’s properties in a motor pool located in Barangay (village) Bigaa 2.

The businessman reported the matter to the local police station and arrested the suspect around 12:10 a.m. Jonaldo, a resident of Quezon City, failed to present legitimate credentials to prove that he was a policeman.
During routine frisking, the police found him carrying a caliber .45 pistol loaded with three bullets. The suspect failed to produce the necessary government documents for the firearm.

Authorities also recovered a police uniform inside the suspect’s backpack.
The suspect was detained and is facing corresponding criminal charges.
