MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake hit the waters off Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Saturday noon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Based on the state seismologist’s bulletin, the temblor occurred at 12:19 p.m. 148 kilometers (km) east of the island.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 139 km.
Phivolcs did not record any instrumental or reported intensities.

There are also no aftershocks or damage to property expected due to the quake, it added.
At 8:51 a.m. on the same day, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake also hit the waters off Jose Abad Santos municipality of the same province.
