MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday that its first week of list-up yielded more than 340,000 new voters for the 2025 midterm elections.
According to the poll body, its February 12 to 17 nationwide registration had 348,349 new voters signing up with Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and Metro Manila logging the highest numbers of new registrants with 61,736 and 48,187, respectively.
“Overwhelmed. Thank you to everyone,” Comelec chairman George Erwin Garcia told INQUIRER.net when asked for a comment on the voter registration turnout for the first week.

“Yes, 3M [3 million] may even be a very conservative number,” he added when asked if he thinks the 3 million new voters target is achievable by the end of September.
The voter registration for the 2025 national and local elections officially opened on February 12 and will run until September 30.
The Comelec said the country currently has 68 million registered voters.
