Cargo vessel sinks off Coron, Palawan; 14 crewmen rescued

MANILA, Philippines — A cargo vessel sank off Coron, Palawan on Monday morning while the 14 crewmen were rescued, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In a statement, the PCG said the MV Amelia Kyle-1, sank approximately three nautical miles off Bantac Island, Coron.

Crew members of the fishing boat (FB) Mommy Rose V reported the incident to authorities after the crew of its sister vessel, FB Mommy Rose 1 rescued all 14 crewmen of the cargo ship at around 10:30 a.m.

According to the PCG, the cargo ship “sank due to rough sea conditions.”
