Police hunt on for Butuan robbers

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities are now on the lookout for suspects who carted away P20,000 cash from collectors of a financing corporation in Butuan City Tuesday, a Caraga police spokesman said Wednesday.

Superintendent Martin Gamba said four still unidentified bonnet-wearing suspects held-up two collectors of the Reynaldo Financing Services Corp. along Purok 2 in Mandamo village, Butuan City around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday

Gamba said initial investigation revealed that victims identified as William Bantilan and Jograd Esin, were travelling along the area when the suspects armed with a caliber .45 pistol, shotgun and bolo came out from a grassy portion and declared a hold-up.

Aside from the cash, a Nokia cellular phone and drivers license were also stolen from the suspects, Gamba said. He said the suspects immediately fled towards unknown direction.

Gamba said a follow-up operation is now being conducted for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
