MANILA, Philippines — Two earthquakes jolted parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday, according to the state seismology bureau.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said magnitude 4.1 earthquake rocked Surigao del Sur an hour after midnight.
The epicenter of the tectonic quake was located east of the Bayabas, Surigao del Sur. It had a depth of focus of 18 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity II in the City of Tandag in Surigao del Sur. No damage or aftershocks are expected.
A magnitude 4.4 earthquake rocked Eastern Samar Wednesday afternoon.
The epicenter was east of Dolores, Eastern Samar, and it had a depth of focus of 24 kilometers.
The Phivolcs reported the following intensities:
Intensity IV – Can-avid, Eastern Samar
Intensity III – Hernani and Maydolong, Eastern Samar
Intensity II – Balangiga, Eastern Samar
It also added the following instrumental intensities:
Intensity IV – Can-avid, Eastern Samar
Intensity I – Mapanas, Northern Samar
No damage or aftershocks are likewise expected from the said earthquake.
