MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Tuesday that it has recently received six advanced bomb removal automated vehicle (Brave) robots donated by the United States Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) program in a bid to combat terrorism.

US ATA turned over the BRAVE robots during a ceremony in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan in Taguig City on Monday, which coincided with the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group (EOD/K9) Headquarters within the area.

“The initiative not only embraces innovation but also signifies a commitment to excellence and technological advancements in law enforcement, reshaping the future of policing in the Philippines,” the PNP said in a statement.

It added that the new EOD/K9 Group facility, on the other hand, “addresses the evolving challenges faced by law enforcement” and ensures that personnel are equipped with the infrastructure needed for effective operations.

“This moment is a celebration of the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to public service. The combined efforts behind the BRAVE robots and the EOD/K9 Group Headquarters symbolize the nation’s dedication to staying at the forefront of technology and preparedness,” PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said.

Also, on Monday, several offices of national government agencies and local government units (LGU) received bomb threats.
