PH to experience cloudy skies, light rains due to two weather systems

MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the Philippines will experience cloudy skies and light rains on Tuesday due to the effects of two weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“We have some areas experiencing cloudy skies at the moment due to the effects of weather systems affecting certain parts of our country,” Pagasa expert Rhea Torres said in a morning weather report.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, affects the eastern sections of Luzon, while the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm wind, affects Southern Luzon and Visayas.

The northeast monsoon is forecast to bring overcast skies with light rains on Tuesday over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, Pagasa’s 4 a.m. advisory said.

On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be dampened by isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon, it continued.

The state weather bureau further said the shear line would bring overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, Aklan, Capiz, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Quezon.
