MANILA, Philippines — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) said Monday that its mobile app is now accessible to more than 14,000 pensioners residing in the United States (US) and Singapore.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said pensioners in the two countries could use the app to fulfill their proof of life requirement, known as the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR), and other transactions.

“We call on our members and pensioners to use the GSIS Touch for their transactions. We made it available to pensioners abroad as our response to their clamor to allow them to experience its innovative and convenient service,” Veloso said in a statement released by the GSIS.

The GSIS explained that pensioners must comply with APIR to continue receiving benefits, and the mobile app eliminates the need to visit any GSIS office physically.

Additionally, the state-run pension provider noted that pensioners can view their updated loan amortization schedule through the app.

The GSIS has 18,000 Filipino pensioners worldwide, and 78 percent of them reside in the US and Singapore.

“After extending the app’s reach to pensioners in the US and Singapore, the GSIS is already working on rolling it out to pensioners residing in other parts of the world, including Europe, the Middle East, and Canada,” the agency said.

However, while the GSIS mobile app is not yet available in other countries, the pension provider advised its beneficiaries to use alternative modes – such as Skype, Messenger, and Viber – to comply with APIR.

The GSIS Touch App was launched in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It allows members and pensioners to access their records, generate tentative computations, apply for loans and claims, and keep track of their premium remittances and loan payments.

The app may be downloaded in the Philippines through Google Play Store and Apple Store.
