Pagasa: Fair weather in Metro Manila, Luzon; weak rains over rest of PH

MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather will prevail in Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon on Sunday, while overcast skies and weak rains are expected over the rest of the country, according to the state weather bureau.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that amihan will mainly affect residents in Luzon, while easterlies will persist in Visayas and Mindanao.

“Para sa panahon ngayong linggo ay maulap na kalangitan at mataas na tiyansa ng mga mahihinang pagulan at pagambon dito sa bahagi ng Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon at sa bahagi din ng Bicol Region,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in a morning forecast.

(For today’s weather, cloudy skies and high chances of weak rains might occur in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.

Although isolated rain showers or weak rains are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, Castañeda pointed out that the weather in the said areas will be fair.

Meanwhile, cloudy and rainy weather will be experienced in Visayas and Mindanao due to easterlies and thunderstorms expected in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region.

On the other hand, amihan will also bring weak rains in parts of Western and Central Visayas, while localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Mindanao.

Castañeda said Pagasa have not monitored any weather disturbance besides the two weather systems.
