Motorcycle rider shot dead in Lipa City

MANILA, Philippines — A 40-year-old man was shot dead while riding his motorcycle in Lipa City, Batangas, on Wednesday evening, according to police.

The victim, identified as Jayson Badillo from Barangay Tanod, was driving along Barangay Balintawak when the suspect, alias “Jonel,” followed and shot him in the head with a short firearm.

After shooting Badillo, the suspect reportedly left on board a motorcycle.

In a report on Thursday, the Lipa City police said they conducted a hot pursuit operation which led to the successful arrest of “Jonel” in Barangay Bolbok.

The police recovered a caliber .38 gun from the suspect and have yet to determine his motive for shooting the victim.
