MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Manila on Thursday said that some roads will be closed on Friday, January 9, for the Chinese New Year celebrations.

According to its Facebook post on Thursday, the following roads will be closed for the conduct of a fireworks display:
- Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will be closed from 12 a.m. onwards to prepare for the fireworks display
- Jones Bridge southbound lane going to Manila City Hall will be closed from 7 p.m. onwards
- Jones Bridge northbound lane going to Binondo will be closed from 10 p.m. onwards to give way to the public interested in watching the fireworks
On February 7, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that the expanded number coding scheme will be suspended on February 9.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared February 9 as a special non-working day for the Chinese New Year.
