Comelec signs MOA with malls for ‘Register Anywhere Program’

MANILA, Philippines — To attract more Filipinos to register for the upcoming midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) signed another deal on Thursday with three mall chains to help facilitate the poll body’s Register Anywhere Program (RAP).

The memorandum of agreement was inked by Comelec chair George Erwin Garcia and representatives from the SM Supermalls, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, and Robinsons Malls.

Garcia signed a similar agreement with an official from Filinvest Land Inc. on Wednesday.

According to the Comelec chief, about 170 malls nationwide will support their register anywhere initiative.

The RAP aims to make the voter registration process easier and quicker.

It also aims to reach the targeted three million additional voters before the 2025 elections, he said.

Under the program, registrants can correct or update their voter registration and reactivate or transfer their accounts by visiting the poll body’s partner malls.

“Therefore po, samantalahin habang maaga na andiyan ang mga malls. Convenience po ang maga-guarantee namin sa bawat isa,” Garcia said during the signing ceremony held in the Comelec Main Office in Manila.

(Therefore, take advantage of this while it’s still early and at the malls. We guarantee convenience for everyone.)

He also noted that the voter registration process in malls can be completed as quickly as five to 10 minutes.

The voter registration for the midterm elections in 2025 will run from February 12 to September 30 this year.
