MANILA, Philippines – A man was shot dead during a drinking spree in San Pablo City, Laguna province, on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

In a report on Thursday, the Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO 4-A which covers Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) identified the 38-year-old victim as Junjun Salamuding.

He was shot during a  drinking bout with his buddies in the mountainous area of Purok 4, Barangay Sto. Anghel.

According to police, the 34-year-old suspect, alias “Donald,” suddenly arrived at the area and allegedly shot Salamuding at close range using a .38-caliber revolver.

The victim died on the spot with gunshot wounds in his head and chest.

Police said it immediately went to the area after receiving a report and arrested the suspect.

Authorities did not reveal the suspect’s motive but assured that he was detained at the San Pablo City Police Station. The gun he used has been confiscated.
