Jackpot? Thieves take P24K from Tondo lotto outlet
Why take a chance by placing a lotto bet when you can go for the sure thing?
This was probably what a group of thieves were thinking when they broke into a lotto outlet on R. Papa Street in Tondo, Manila, and made off with around P24,000 in cash Tuesday.
Supt. Roderick Mariano of the Manila Police District’s Jose Abad Santos station said that the burglary could have taken place between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. yesterday, shortly after Edna Beljano closed the lotto outlet at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The stolen money was the establishment’s earnings over the past two days. Beljano said that when she came to work at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, she found the door to the outlet open and everything inside in disarray.
The owner of the lotto outlet, Manuel Tan, told the police that this was the second time that his establishment was robbed. Jeannette I. Andrade with Julliane de Jesus
