Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes Mountain Province
BAGUIO CITY — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Mountain Province around noon on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake hit the province at 12:20 p.m. and its epicenter was traced some 5 kilometers northwest of Tadian town.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 km, according to Phivolcs.

Intensity III was felt in Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur, while instrumental intensity I was felt in Aringay and San Fernando City in La Union and in Vigan City in Ilocos Sur.

Phivolcs said the quake could cause damage, but no aftershocks were expected.
