Senator wants to reach out to House over ‘intense assault’ reso

House and Senate row on cha-cha

MANILA, Philippines — Seeking to end the rising tension between the House of Representatives and the Senate, Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Monday offered to talk to their counterparts in the lower chamber.

Estrada’s suggestion came after their counterparts adopted House Resolution No. 1562, a measure expressing support to Speaker Martin Romualdez amid “intense assault from the Senate.”

“My humble suggestion is that if you want me to make representations with the House of Representatives, I will do that. Just so we settle this so all these bickering ends,” he said in English and Filipino.

Estrada said he is willing to personally talk to Romualdez in order to end this supposed rift between the chambers.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri added that the Senate is always open and willing to communicate with the House of Representatives.

“For the good of the country, bukas ang tanggapan namin para makipag usap sa House of Representatives para matigil na po itong bangayan na ito,” said Zubiri.

(For the good of the country, our office is open to talk to the House of Representatives so that this bickering stops.)
