2 suspected NPA rebels killed in Masbate clash

MANILA, Philippines — Two alleged  New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in an encounter in Cawayan,Masbate on Monday, the Philippine Army said. 

The 2nd Infantry Battalion and the suspected NPA rebels figured in a firefight at around 7:00 a.m. in Barangay Tuburan.

The fatalities have yet to be identified.

Several firearms, war materiel, and personal belongings were recovered from the suspected rebels who fled the site of the encounter.
