VP Sara urges Filipinos to join fight vs cancer
Filipinos should join forces and “inspire one another” to work against the challenges posed by cancer, Vice President Sara Duterte said on Sunday.
In her message on the observance of World Cancer Day, Duterte praised the technological advancements in treating cancer, as well as other medical interventions against the illness.
“This progress fuels our unwavering commitment to continue our relentless pursuit of cures and preventive measures,” she said.

Duterte, who is also the education secretary, assured the public that she would like to join in with the global efforts against cancer, even as she called on Filipinos to use their “voices, platforms and resources to confront and address this formidable illness.”
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), the observance of World Cancer Day was meant to increase the disease awareness and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.
Data from the WHO showed that cancer has been the “leading cause of death” in the world, with 20 million new cancer cases reported and nearly 10 million fatalities, based on its 2022 data. INQ
