Minimum pay for domestic workers hiked

The Department of Labor and Employment on Saturday said a total of 233,909 domestic workers in the Calabarzon region would benefit from a P1,000 minimum monthly wage increase set to take effect on Feb. 19.

The hike is contained in Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04 that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board issued on Jan. 22 and published on Saturday.

The new monthly minimum wage for domestic workers in Calabarzon will be P6,000 for cities and first class municipalities and P5,000 for other municipalities. The last wage hike for domestic workers in the region was in 2022. —JEROME ANING
