MANILA, Philippines — A man was seeking a clearance certificate from the police but ended up being arrested in Antipolo City on Friday, February 2.
The Police Regional Office Region 4A (PRO 4A) did not disclose the full name of the individual and only gave him the moniker “Wilson.”
According to police, Wilson was arrested while he was applying for a National Police Clearance as authorities discovered that a warrant was issued against him for violating an anti-smoking ordinance.
“[R]izal Personnel of Antipolo Component City Police Station served the warrant of arrest against the accused alias WILSON during his application of National Police Clearance which resulted in his arrest for violation of City/Municipal Ordinance Omnibus Anti-Smoking Ordinance,” the PRO 4A said in a report.

The PRO Region 4A said the arrest warrant was issued by the Mandaluyong Metropolitan Trial Court in November 2023.
Wilson has been detained in the Antipolo City police’s custodial facility.
