MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Surigao del Sur early Friday morning, the state seismology bureau said.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the epicenter of the tectonic earthquake was located east of Lingig, Surigao del Sur.

It had a depth of focus of one kilometer.
The Phivolcs also reported the following intensities felt in some areas:
Intensity II
- Surigao del Sur – Lingig, City of Bislig
Intensity I
- Surigao del Sur – Hinatuan
No aftershocks nor damages were to be expected after the earthquake, the Phivolcs added.
