NDRRMC report: 1 killed, 6 others hurt as LPA's trough affect Mindanao

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is validating reports that a person was killed and six others were injured in Davao de Oro as rain-drenched Mindanao due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA).

MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said it is validating reports that a person was killed and six others were injured in Davao de Oro as rain drenched Mindanao due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA).

The NDRRMC also said it is verifying reports it received regarding an individual who went missing amid the onset of the weather disturbance in the region.

A total of 12,203 people, or 3,014 families, are likewise affected by the LPa’s trough or extension, according to the agency.

Of the total, 7,883 were in Davao de Oro, 6,368 were in Davao Oriental, and 4,846 were in Davao City.

The NDRRMC has yet to report on the weather disturbance’s possible damage to agriculture and infrastructure.

Cloudy skies with rain were expected to continue in Mindanao and parts of Visayas on Friday due to the LPA’s trough, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The state weather agency, however, noted that the LPA is unlikely to become a tropical cyclone as it is expected to dissipate this weekend.
