According to SAICT, the amount was collected from 44 colorum vehicles, including vans, buses, and other public utility vehicles, from January 6 to 31.
“The substantial fines of P200K per van and P1M per bus imposed on offenders reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing road safety for all commuters,” SAICT said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
The anti-colorum campaign was in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard and the Land Transportation Office, it added.
“The DOTr [Department of Transportation] anticipates that more illegal and unregistered vehicles will be exposed as their intensified campaign continues,” SAICT added.
“To this end, SAICT is urging the public to report any suspicious or unauthorized transportation services to the DOTr Commuter Hotline 0920-964-3687, contributing to the overall efforts in dismantling the colorum network in the metropolis,” it added.
